ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all artists 21 years and older living in the
Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area.
WORK ELIGIBILITY:
All entry subject matter must be wildlife animals.
All work must be original.
Categories include:
1.
Oil, acrylics on canvas and pastel paintings.
2. Water media on paper
3. Mixed media, collage drawings and hand-pulled graphics,(no
photographs or computer-generated art)
FRAMING:
Artwork must be framed and wired with screw eyes
ready to hang. All works on paper must be under Plexiglas glazing,
(pastels may be under glass). Size limit of all works: 40"
X 40".
SELECTION AND AWARDS:
Each artist may enter up to three works. Juror will
select:
- Best
of Show $500
- First
Place $300
- Second
Place $200
- Third
Place $100
- Honorable
Mentions at the discretion of the Juror Prizes at the discretion
of IAA
JUROR:
Bruce
Peil: An accomplished self-taught Plein Air Artist and co-founder
of the Outdoor Painters Society. Bruce is a Signature Member of
Oil Painters of America, the Au Premier Coup society and Associated
Creative Artists. He teaches workshops at the Fredericksburg Artists'
School in Texas and other locations. Bruce was most recently published
in the September, 2001, issue of Artists Magazine, with an article
entitled "Tapping the Essence". He states that light,
atmosphere and a sense of place is what he is after in his paintings.
To capture those qualities, you must focus on believable colors
and values. He has concentrated his studies to include repeated
workshops with nationally known artists, Kevin Macpherson, Jim Wilcox,
Rudy Colao, John Encinias and Scott Christensen. His paintings have
garnered many awards in numerous local and national shows, they
can be found in corporate and private collections across the country.
CALENDAR:
1.
September 30th, 2002 -mailed entry form along with $15 entry fee
due (nonrefundable)
2. October 25th (12 Noon to 6PM) and October 26 (10AM to 12N)
hand deliver artwork
3. October 27th & 28th (1pm to 3pm)-pick up works juried out
from the show
4. November 3rd (2PM to 4PM) Reception and Awards
5. November 29th (10AM to 6PM) -Show closes: pick up your art
work
SALES:
All sales must be arranged between artist and buyer.
LIABILITIES:
Irving Art Association will exercise the utmost
care in the handling and hanging of your painting; however, the
Association cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to any
work of art.
DELIVERY AND PICKUP:
(see calendar)
- Deliver
in person on October 25 and 26 to: Jaycee Center for the Arts,
2000 W. Airport Frwy, Irving, Texas (972-721-8063)
- Return
on October 27 and 28 to pick up pieces that were not accepted
into the show.
- Pick
up for all show artwork is November 29 ($3 per day storage fee
after this date)
